I've been doing a lot of experimenting with HDR photos. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range.....this means that all the areas of a photo are better visualized through the combination of several different exposed images. This lends itself to become very artistic. This is what attracted me to it soooooo greatly!! To me it's like shooting with film in the respect that you have no clue if the image will be worth while or not until its processed. Ill give some examples.
Example 1: Pre-HDR
Example 2: Post HDR
See the difference? In the second image all the shadows and the highlights are all of an equal exposure. Giving the picture a artistic almost surreal look. The processing (Tone mapping) is a little more complex than just combining 3 images but i will get into that later. I'm still expirementing with it in Photomatix. This is a program designed solely for HDR production. This process can be done in photoshop but the images don't look as good in my oppinion. I have more HDR images that I have been playing around with and I'll be posting them in my next blog. But until then just check these over and let me know what you think!
