Cameras on the Run!!
Yesterday I did what I said I was going to do....sorta. I only managed to photo 3 of my cams because I was having some lighting issues. I don't have a light tent, so, I tried to take the pictures on my comp chair with some white fabric thrown over it. As you'll see it worked pretty good but it could use a lot of improvements with lighting. Sooo here are a couple of my cameras!
Here is my new Zenit 122 that I was ranting about saturday.
Isn't it a work of art?!? the one thing I didn't mention the other day was that it's a 58mm fixed lens. I have to say that is the most random size ever.
OK here is my wife's adopted camera. We got it at Unique in Falls Church, the biggest thrift shop you can go to out here.
The Chinon Genesis, a japanese made ZLR (zoom lens reflex). It essentially works the same way as an SLR except you can't change lenses. It's a pretty unique camera (hehehe) and I hope Julie will get some good pictures with it......I'm not allowed to use it :(
Speaking of thrift store cameras i got this next one at the Salvation Army in Manassass. It's another Japanese camera.
I think this is one of my fav. cameras for the way the shutter sounds. It's a very simple sounding shutter. When I had purchased it the grip was pealing off so I decided to get artistic with it and made it ZEBRA PRINT!!!! at the same time I also made a leopard print camera and a hybrid zebra/leopard camera. Those pictures to comes once I get the light problem worked out. Well.....Let me know what you think

Cameras
I got a HUGE surprise this morning when my wife came home with an early Christmas present. As you can probably guess, because I'm writing it on here, it was a camera. Not just any camera tho, The Zenit 122!!!!!! A Russian made camera masterpiece. At first glance it looks like a cheap plastic camera not to far from the Holga or the Dianna, but thats where any similarity ends. It is made of a solid body of metal and then covered in plastic (for toughness), at the time it was made not even Leica cameras were made this durable. The key thing to remember with this camera is that it was, for all intensive purposes, a Russian soldier's camera. It was a model meant to stand up to battle in the front lines and withstand the utter cold of a Russian winter. I found a site that described the camera to be able to work in a -40 degree Celsius climate. I can't even imagine being outside in that temperature, none the less going for a photography shoot.....Buttt that was what it was designed for not what this camera was used for. Julie told me our friend from the hospital, Shino, gave her the camera to give to me because its just sitting around his house collecting dust. Shino is from Saudi Arabia and told her that in the city he lived Russians always came to sell Russian made cameras. This makes me appreciate this camera even more. Not only has this thing been in more countries than I'll ever be, but it's design has stood up to the cold of Russia and the harsh heat of the Arabian dessert air. I know if I took my Canon Rebel Xti to Russia and Saudi Arabia then let it sit in the basement for 15 years the thing would never take a picture again. And other than a few scratched and the camera strap mounts being broken, the Zenit probably takes pictures just like the day it was bought!!! ALLSOOOOO......i forgot to mention my purchase of a canon AF35ML yesterday from goodwill for 4 dollars. I'm not even gonna go into a rant on that one. I'm just gonna post a link and walk away....too much excitement for 1 weekend. http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/sure-shot/af35ml.htm
Sorry for that long rant and thanks if you endured the entire thing. I plan on taking pictures of all my cameras soon so that people can know what I'm talking about half the time. The total count is 10 cameras (only 1 digital) and ALOT of lenses. And also a big thanks to Shino for the camera!!!!! I'll definitely get some great use out of it!!

HDR Images....FINALLY!!
Okay...sooo I've been busy lately working midnights and I haven't had time to even think about updating this thing, but my wife fell asleep on the couch with the puppy. That gives me a little bit of time to post some stuff up here. I promised I'd post those HDR images that I've been messing around with. That means this post will pretty much just be an image dump. Then sometime this week, hopefully tomorrow, I'll get around to posting the pics i took with my Canon T50 35mm. Without further talking here come the images.
This is the Appalachian Trail Bridge in Harper's Ferry. I love the effect the chain link has with the HDR effect.
It's our Christmas Tree.....we but up in mid november! This was actually my first HDR image I took just as a test and I love the way the tree looks.
This is the view from my grandparents front porch. Simply stunning. I got a bunch of good pictures from that trip....hopefully posting soon.
On the way to Pennsylvania to visit my grandparents a couple weekends ago we stopped in Hagerstown, MD to get gas and I could't resist getting the camera out. Clouds in HDR just look about 10 times better than IRL.
Well that's it for now. The scanned film photos will be coming up soon. And again just leave comments and let me know what you think about the images, or any tips to make this blog any better.
